Uncle Cameron and Kevin Bacon got nuthin' on my hairdo! difference is ... I make this look cool!

Darby waits to wash the dishes! You wouldn't believe how much money we save on Dish washing liquid!

Well, Happy Monday! Is there really such a thing? I don't really think so. It was incredibly difficult to get out of the bed this morning. Why? Because the two men in my life were sawing logs - one in the bed next to me and the other on the floor at the foot of the bed. I am pretty sure our child would sleep on metal spikes and not think a thing about it. Anyways, they don't have school or work this week, so they get to be lazy while I trudge to work. Arrrgghhh!

Our weekend was pretty uneventful. We did buy Darby one of those bags to cart her around in and to our surprise she took to it like a duck to water! We walked her all around Barnes and Noble and the place was crawling with people and she never made a peep. The boys spent a lot of time in the backyard playing soccer and I spent my time reading. For once - Mark was upset by Landman's attitude and I was not. Apparently Killer is showing signs of not liking to loose. Ah ha! the boy is gonna be a competitive sports player! Yippee - I like to see that ... not so much the bad attitude when he looses -- but that can be controlled. You can't teach someone to be competitive. So I was happy that was there ... Mark didn't really like it too much.

So, I finally broke down and did some research to find out what the hysteria about the movie "Twilght" was all about, and I have to say ... I got it. So I went and bought the books and I have finished the first one and am half way through the second one. Definately going to go see the movie but it will probably be one I try and go to by myself. It is one of those guilty pleasure kinds. A little embarrassed to actually admit to being "sucked" in ... get it? (for those of you who don't know ... the book is about a girl who falls in love with a vampire) I have gone to see movies by myself before. I used to do it in Lubbock. It is hard to enjoy a movie when you know the person next to you is about to loose their mind, so I am okay with going to these types of movies by myself. I think I love my husband too much to subject him to teenage romance! :) I am generally a pretty realistic person, even about the stuff I read. I want it to be plausible, but I have to admit, the Twilight saga just kinda reels you in. Guess I am just a big softy about romantic stuff deep down beneath my cold, hard, cynical exterior!

Thanksgiving is this week, which means Christmas is just around the corner. Yikes ... money and more money out the door!

See, I told you ... this kid can fall asleep any where. Mark and I noticed he had got awfully quiet in his room, so we peaked in and this is what we found. Seriously, how do you fall asleep like that? Only Landman would put a bean bag chair on his bed to sleep on!
On a different and totally random topic, look at my hand in this photo. Doesn't it look totally creepy! Very skeletor and what the heck happened to my thumb? !! That just can't be normal! Oh, the next morning we showed these pictures to landman and he was MAD! He did not like the fact that we had taken pictures of him that he knew nothing about! I mean - he actually got on to us!

The hubby figured since he had a week off from work and would not be seeing to many people he would trim the old moostachio .... I kinda dig it. He is scowling in this photo but it really makes him look younger. So cute!

Getting the gear on.

So, are we gonna do this or not?
Well, Killer had his first true hunting experience this weekend. He and daddy got in complete camo, descented themselves, their two man chair blind and went marching out into the wilds of Comanche to kill a deer. I do have to admit though - I think Mark was more excited than Landman. From all accounts it was a fairly good outing until the little man's stomach started growling, which was just two hours into the hunt. So the blind was abandoned to make the journey back to the house and see what Meemaw had for lunch. The Landman chose to stay back with Pops and not go back for the afternoon hunt. There was just way too much going on that he might miss out on.

One thing killer would of gladly missed out on was the arrival of Tyler and Nicole. He was not happy about their presence at all. They were cutting into Pops' time and he let everyone know he was not happy about it. This was the first time I have gotten to meet Nicole and I must say, I am a little confused as to what she sees in my big brother - but as demonstrated by my choice in husband - there is no accounting for taste! ha ha ha just kidding babe! You know I adore you! I really liked Nicole a lot. Lets just hope she doesn't wise up anytime soon! ha haha haha
Well, the hubby finally got his big buck on Sunday morning. He had no more crossed the fence behind the house when I heard a shot ring out. I was a little bit nervous we were going to have a repeat of an earlier incident with Mark, gun and crawling over the fence. I will let him tell that story sometime! But my fears were unfounded because he had indeed shot a deer. An 11 pt. I think! Venison here I come! Yippee!

Darby figured out that Ambrose puts off a lot of heat, so she finally tried to snuggle up to him. He just looked irritated, but let her stay. He is such a sweet boy, really.

Darby has had to come to work with me all this week. Drama there that I don't even want to go into. If the little twit could just keep her mouth shut and not bark at every little noise, I wouldn't have to drag her to work with me. But she is a chihuahua and she barks, so she has become my little desk gremlin.
Thanksgiving is next week. Can't wait to gorge myself on Turkey and Dressing!!
Be seeing you in the funny pages!

Celebrating Daddy's 40th birthday! I love you!

Killer is a little off target!

Daddy getting ready to take a mighty swing!

Me in the pits before the race!

Wow - it has been a busy past couple of weeks. Lets see ... Friday was Halloween and bless his soul, my child is my dream come true. For weeks he has been wanting to go see the Chihuahua movie and his dad and I told him NO! he could just wait for it to come on pay per view. But I think he could also sense our dred of trick or treating - so on Friday- he offered us a deal. He would be willing to go see the Chihuahua movie rather than Trick or Treating! It was COMPLETELY his idea! And let me tell you, Mark and I jumped on that deal! We know a good bargin when we see it! So, we escaped Halloween fairly unscathed!
Had he gone Trick-or-Treating - he would of looked like this!
On Saturday we went to McKenzie and Kelby's wedding in Abilene. It was really nice. It was small and had lots of entertaining music during the reception thanks to the father of the bride! :) I got to meet some more of Mark's family I had never met before. Carlos and Shirley. I liked them alot. They were really fun. Of course I found out really quickly Mark can't be around Carlos in a church!! We didn't get to stay too long because I had to get up early Sunday to go to the Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway!
I was not the least bit excited about this. Hot, loud, and lots of traffic and people! The association had a small sponsorship of the #28 car of Yates Racing. So, we got Hot passes - which allowed us in the garage and pits. It was all fun for about an hour! After nine hours of standing around watching guys work on a car and then seeing them go flying by at 200 mph for 150 laps - I had seen enough thank you! Now don't get me wrong - it was an amazing experience and I am sure any one of the 180,000 Nascar crazys in the stands would of loved to be in my place - but really - it would be like me forcing a guy to attend an ALL DAY Fashion show! I told one of the pit guys - who they called Mad Man - that exact thing. I guess I was standing there looking bored out of my mind, so he asked "well you havin' fun yet?" to which I laughed and told him "would you enjoy an all day fashion show?" he got a kick out of that! But he was really nice and explained lots of things to me - like how they like to make the pit area sticky - so how do they do that? They shake up a coke and then let it spew out everywhere! Can you believe that with all their money and technology - coke is still their tool of choice!

I left before the race was over. One of the guys said that if you waited until the race was over - it would take three hours just to get out of the parking lot!!! So I left about half way through the race and did not have a bit of trouble! I was never so glad to be in my car and driving home!

Me with a board member of the association. See the cars zooming by in the background!
The green flag just dropped. Jeff Gordon in the lime green car held the #1 pole position.

The #28 car's pit crew.
Our pit was right next to Jimmie Johnson's pit. This is the #48 car pit crew.
Walking down pit row before the race.

We ran into Rachel Ray and Mario Betolli on pit row before the race.

Inside the car. Definately need a degree in rocket science to drive one of those things!

Yates team making a pit stop.

Wonder why you can't get service like this at a regular lube place! ?

I have seen the Elephant - Don't need to ever see it again!
